No game for Creighton. In the next game vs Abilene Christian (1-4) we are going to start Love but play him with the second team some as we look for more bench scoring. Weems is going to play with the starters a little more which will give us more size. We could possibly see Love come of the bench in later games if he continues to struggle with foul trouble.

Marquette Brushes Off SIU-Edwardsville

The Marquette Golden Eagles emerged from a tough game against SIU-Edwardsville with a 75-68 victory last night in Milwaukee. Junior guard Antonio Backmann led the Eagles with 15 points, while senior shooting guard Lance Jack turned provider, dishing out five assists to go along with seven rebounds.

The key for Marquette was drawing 28 fouls to only 13 of their own. Marquette played exclusively 2-3 zone versus SIU, challenging their opponents to beat them from long range. SIU obliged hitting 10 of 24 shots from deep and keeping the game closer than it perhaps should have been.

The stakes go up for Marquette as they go on the inaugural road trip of the season for games against Arizona State and UMass. While Marquette fans will hope for a road sweep, the coaching staff will probably be delighted to split the two games.

No games, but Villanova coming up in 2 games. Good thing they have one of the worst coaches in the league in TJ so it should be an easy win in whatprobably otherwise would be a loss.

Arizona State played no games as they await geebob and his Marquette Warriors. The Arizona State student body has been encouraged to wear Indian War paint as they hold a "scalp" the Warrior night!

Northern Colorado - 68, Villanova - 73 (Win)
Close win at home versus a non-noteworthy opponent in Northern Colorado. Chad Lee led the way with 17pts/6reb, while Chris Simmonds (13pts), Raymond Henderson (13pts/5reb/17min), and John Murray (10pts) joined him with double digit scoring. Going to really have to pick it up in our next, tough match up in Indiana.

At least I can spell correctly, unless "whatprobably" is a new word in the English language...

Abilene Christian (1-4)
Will be interesting to see if AC smothers Creighton's offense to the degree that it did against Marquette, holding us to 37% and 19% from behind the arc.

It will be difficult to scalp their coach, as he has torn his hair out over his team's miserable shooting.

And, somewhat sadly for me, but still understandably, Marquette changed their team name in 1994 to Golden Eagles (an animal that never actually lived in Wisconsin).
