Consecutive Picks / Protection
Soooo. . . say what you want but I honestly just realized that I am not currently in compliance with the consecutive pick rule. I genuinely forgot that I traded the ORL 2020 pick in the MIN deal since it wasn't part of the original discussion. Then, we traded the 2019 MIN 1st to OKC with the assumption that we still had a 2020 pick.
Now, we only have 2 2021 picks. I'm not sure how to resolve but figured I'd bring it up since it just came to my attention - thanks for someone's trade offer.
I've heard that since 2019 1st is under protection that we're technically covered. . . . not sure if that's accurate but it would help.

That part definitely isn't true.Ocons wrote: I've heard that since 2019 1st is under protection that we're technically covered. . . . not sure if that's accurate but it would help.
The way the Stepien Rule works in real life (and I assume we're mimicking that) is there can not be a scenario where you don't have a pick in two consecutive drafts.

Other than asking you to trade Exum for my 2019 Boston 1st, I don't really have a resolution for your problem though.

Well the Utah pick is protected top 3. You "technically" haven't lost the pick potentially until the end of the season.
And as Dennis stated in the link below
"The protection is the property of the team that protected it".

Unless I'm somehow totally off base and wrong...

Re: Consecutive Picks / Protection
even if that's somehow the case... if Utah's pick was top 3 protected, how did he trade his 2020? If Utah missed the playoffs and lucked into a top 3 pick, he'd keep the pick the owner of the 2019 pick would get it rolled over to 2020, and somebody would be screwed out of their 2020 pick. Everything about this is just weird.8time wrote:Well the Utah pick is protected top 3. You "technically" haven't lost the pick potentially until the end of the season.

Huh? How's that even possible? Normally the engine blocks the trade right away if the stepedien rule gets broken. You then can't input the trade.
No idea how the summer was even able to get this trade into the game then, lol

Re: Consecutive Picks / Protection
That was my gripe earlier. Apparently this year is the first year that became a rule. I traded my 2020 1st last year before the new and improved CBA rolled out.BizGilwalker wrote:even if that's somehow the case... if Utah's pick was top 3 protected, how did he trade his 2020? Yeah, that's why I'm confused. I had no clue until I just got an offer and looked at my picks. I still thought I had the ORL 2020 1st and there was a mistakeDennis wrote:Huh? That's my thought as well. Game does not let you do it. How the hell it happened is beyond me.Dennis wrote:Huh? How's that even possible? Normally the engine blocks the trade right away if the stepedien rule gets broken. You then can't input the trade.

What's done is done though. But I'm really annoyed by the fact that GAME itself should have blocked that deal. Is that a bug or something?
