2019 CSL Draft - Shaq's Top 5 Prospects [Preseason]

Post by KW »

BREAKING NEWS: Sources say that NBA Hall of Fame big man Shaquille O'Neal has been fired from TNT after punching Kenny Smith in the face and then throwing him across the set after Kenny beat him in a trampoline dunk contest. Not even a week after the incident, sources say that Shaquille O'Neal has partnered with Chad Ford and others to provide draft analysis for the CSL, and has already debut his first article, listing his top five prospects to look out for in the upcoming season, in college and overseas. Note that this primarily takes into account present-day ratings, but as the season goes on and potentials start to become more apparent, Shaq's ratings might reflect it. This is completely separate from the official Big Board, so you get extra perspectives.

SHAQ'S TOP 5 PROSPECTS - PRESEASON 2018

#1) Karl-Anthony Towns - Kentucky - Center
The KAT is the number one pick in this draft. I am telling you right now, you heard it from me. He can shoot from anywhere, he can rebound the basketball as good as anyone in college basketball, he has the best defensive skillset of any big man, and it's BBQ Chicken time when he's on the low block. I think he will be an all-star from his rookie season and every year after that. He's gonna be in the hall of fame when it's all over.
Image

#2) Kris Dunn - Providence - Point Guard
I really like Kris Dunn. He has great handles, a great shot, he's really active on both ends of the floor, likes to rebound a lot for someone his size, and even though he's a senior in college and one of the most ready players, I think he's got room to grow. You're hearing it from me, he's a guy a great scoring big man like me wants to play with.
Image

#3) Ante Zizic - Croatia - Center
I wouldn't be able to tell you where Croatia is on a map, but Zizic will put Croatia on the map where even I can find it. You know The Big Aristotle likes a big time post beast. You don't come across a lot of 19 year olds that use their body to create shots or get free throws like he does. He rebounds well, will learn how to defend, but he will need to learn to be more aggressive. He gets his shots against that Croatian defense but when he's defended well he doesn't shoot enough. He knows strengths and weakness, and knows when it's BBQ Chicken time and you have to respect a guy like that.
Image

#4) Domantas Sabonis - Gonzaga - Power Forward
I have a lot of respect for the great Arvydas Sabonis. This is his son who looks like a future Dirk. He has a great jumper from mid range, still needs to extend out to 3 but he has a lot of moves in the post and he just knows how to play. He always makes the right decision. His defense is bad right now, but remember Dirk was a bad defender coming into the league too. But guess what, he's also 19 has a long time to figure it out. The stretch 4 is popular in the league today, and he'll be one of the best.
Image

#5) Justise Winslow - Duke - Small Forward
Defense. That's what Winslow is all about. He slows the other team down and wins games. That's why his name in Winslow! Get it? Get it? Get it? [crickets...] Anyway, Winslow is a consistent jump shot away from being a top 20 player in the CSL. He defends, gets lots of steals, blocks, and rebounds, and can drive to the basket. He is super aggressive and will do anything to win. Everyone loves his approach to the game and so do I.

Damn good article, completely forgot about Winslow.

This is great stuff! I'm not sure if I'm more excited for the season or scouting for the draft!?!

Man, this class (or at least this five) looks awesome. I am strangely attracted to Winslow

We have the Blazers pick this season. I guess it will be in the 12-20 range, depending on a couple factors. If it falls in the 12-14 range then there's the unlikely scenario of jumping in the lotto.

Just based on names I assume KAT and Russel will be the frontrunner. Should be an interesting year for teams that decided to rebuild. WSH for example needs a guy they can build around, maybe it's their year.

Unlikely, that would be too overpowered. We had a top10 guy in Porzingis already last year. But I think it should be a solid class all around.

Would deff change the landscape of the league overnight if we had a draft like that

You will be selecting the 28-30th best player with that pick.

Based on talent, probably. But my comment "depending on a couple factors" was related to Durant and the lack of a true point guard. If Durant goes down, the Blazers are a lotto team. He's playing well above 40 minutes per game for the second season in a row. Hopefully for you it doesn't happen, but you're assuming a big risk there.
