Align trade restrictions with NBA

Because let's be honest, the restrictions we use do more harm than good.

If everything is in place from when I initially helped write the CBA, we use the games rules. The decision was made at that time to do it that way to lessen the burden on the simmer and the admins. I can't speak for the current guys in charge but that was the idea at the time.

There is a reason why most trades are 3/4 ways now. You can't complete trades anymore without a recipient team farming out a player to other teams.

Also,as if the 4 month in game break after the trade deadline isn't enough of a break from processing trades..

Essentially the only way to make it work would be to turn off trade restrictions in the game, which would lead to GMs not knowing when any restrictions on a player end.

Against it as it would increase the simmers work. No need to increase their workload. I mean, if a team shops your player around, just don't trade with them.

The days are alligned with the game.. We'll discuss that but unlikely to happen. It's not a trade league, it's a media league. Activity is nice and trading will always generate discussions such as "that's a rip off" or something like that which isn't positive. We have enough of those with current restrictions.

No, the days we use aren't in line with the engine. We introduced 60 days some time ago. Ingame it's 30 days.

As for this being a media league... I'm just going to point out that if you take trades away from the CSL, there is no CSL. Not even a third of the league writes articles.

Well we are going to start cracking down on GMs that never write articles. We actually have a small waiting list now and can boot the GMs that don't contribute much.

I'm definitely down with lowering restrictions. I could care less if guys are flipping players left and right - let them manage their teams how they want. This league, or any sim really, is in now way a mirror image of the NBA and never will be.

For me it's not the waiting period while a guy tries to trade a player he has yet to officially receive, it's the deals that are posted as a two way, then three way and then later four way. Once it's posted it should be closed - that's ridiculous.

I'd even be okay with a grace period after the deal is posed and updated in DDS. Say 2-3 day window where guys can get moved before they're restricted again for 30 days or whatever.

The only negative I see is for the simmer, I have no idea what goes into that but it sounds like more work and that stinks.

Yeah, definitely no media league atm. But that's mostly related to the actual draft deparmtment/scouting situation. Could/should change again next season.

The 3 days thing is too much work for the admins though.

Well, history shows that I need to actually get kicked out first for me to start making contributions.

I do what I can, man. I've always said that this is a hobby for me but when you start making media articles and such a requirement then I'm never going to be able to sustain it. It ebbs and flows with me. I'm busy at work or at home and can't do anything but scan the boards or I've got a few minutes to throw an article together.

All good intentions and, like everyone else here, just don't always have the time. That's not why I join. Rest assured, I'm checking the site multiple times a day - just don't always comment or post articles.

I also think it hurts me a bit because I am vocal and at times controversial when I do post so it doesn't help that I don't always contribute to media. Those that also don't contribute at all but are quiet or never around just fly under the radar because nobody realizes.
