Durant leads Blazers to back-to-back wins

Post by lakeshowak7 »

Portland - Trailblazers fans were ecstatic following the CSL Day 90 trade that brought them superstar Kevin Durant. Blazers fans were also given an opportunity to see Durant in his new colors during a two-game home stand that coincided with the trade, and the subsequent excitement.

The Trailblazers opened up the home stand with a statement 48-point win against the CSL runner-ups, the Detroit Pistons. In his debut, Kevin Durant scored 40 points and chipped in 7 rebounds, a steal and a block in 33 minutes of playing time. "We feel like we matchup well against the Piston's three guard perimeter. That's a field day for Kevin, and a matchup I look forward to exposing against other teams," Coach Stan Van Gundy said.

The second game of the home stand welcomed another perennial CSL powerhouse, the Phoenix Suns. In a game that included much excitement for the individuals who attended, Kevin Durant scored an eye-popping 63 points on 16-26 shooting in only 36 minutes. Durant also chipped in 11 rebounds and 5 assists. "I was just able to get to my spots on the floor where I was most efficient, and made the best of my shots, got my teammates involved, and just tried to contribute in all aspects of the game," Durant said.

In a short interview during the third quarter of the win versus the Suns, Trailblazers GM Andrew gave us a bit of insight into the mindset behind the deal. "We've been playing chess for two seasons now, which culminated in our check-mate, if you will, the acquisition of Kevin (Durant)," Andrew said. "Players move in this league quite frequently, and we've really took advantage of effectively managing our assets and making the right trades for the future, you know with a vision in mind, and not necessarily what was right for that moment," Andrew continued. "We've got the type of player we've been gunning for all along since my team and I took over here, we couldn't be happier for Blazers nation right now," Andrew concluded.

Rumors had circulated that a trade for Dwight Howard was subsequently following the Durant deal, but after unprecedented occurrences led to a later than anticipated call to the league office to finalize the Durant trade, talks fell through. "I won't comment on the nature of the deal, but yes, we did have things set for Howard to join Durant as well... we will keep looking up until the deadline to find another player if it is right for us.. we've got some assets to play with, a couple draft picks this year in what should be a deep draft," Andrew commented.

The Blazers will travel to Brooklyn tomorrow to face the 26-22 Nets. "It will be a good test for us, and kind of ironic if the Howard rumors were in fact true... we'll get ready for battle and bring it to them,' Durant said.

Can't help but give credit for accomplishing this move, grudge aside... much respect for this.

Would've been an incredible move to get Dwight as well. Great move.

34 FT attempts has to be the CSL record, right?

We have a no-game sim today, but tomorrow we are hosting the Blazers. Will Durant and James match each other up?

Like said in the chat.. that happens when someone gets a player like KD that knows how to use him. Good job so far. Really hoping for a SAs - HOU first round.

It's one short of the record. Dwight Howard (LAC) attempted 35 against Orlando in 2015.

And he missed 14 of those.

Durant may very well be the MVP this season. Really curious to see how they matchup with HOU. Nice work Andrew.

Glad to see Durant get some Ws under his belt and think he will make the Blazers a better team in the long haul for sure.

Now we will learn how good of a GM andy really is. He has KD, Jordan, and not much else to work with. It will not be easy to put the proper pieces around Durant but it can be done.
FINALLY a logical HC Rule our work is done

I think he's already proven he's a good gm. He tanked and traded the assets for a star. That's What hinkie wanted to do but couldnt.

ORL is showing what 1 star + 1 great player + not much else can do. Portland should be as good if not better than ORL.

Hahaha we got steam-rolled. I know GMs like to say Harden is the best player in the game, and maybe he is, but we've never had a real big issue with Harden. On the other hand, KD regularly kills us. It doesn't matter what we do, he always goes for 40+, and in some instances (like this past sim), he goes for 60+.

I'm starting to get healthy, but we're somehow playing worse than when we were injured. Something is wrong with our team, but I don't know what it is. I'm going to have to mess around with the team to figure out something that works.

Just a monster being surrounded by good defenders overall. It will work to perfection at least until you find a nightmare lineup. KD is the best player in the league IMO when used correctly but he's never been with good squads before.
Hope Andy works on his shooting preferences as well as he has the potential to be even more efficient than what he currently is.
