Hagans Has New Fans

Image

Oakland, CA - Don't look now, but here come the Warriors. After dropping shockwaves through the CSL a couple weeks ago by dealing Ky Bowman and DeAndre Hunter in separate deals, the Warriors have won 7 games in a row. Many expected Golden State to fall after trading away some of their top talent, but the opposite has happened (in typical DDS fashion) as the Warriors now sit at 21-17, good enough for 8th in a tough Western Conference.

In dealing Bowman to the Wizards, the Warriors received young point guard Ashton Hagans. While it is still early, many Warrior fans cannot help but be excited by some of his performances over his first 6 games. Hagans has met with management and coaches to better understand what is needed from him on the court and is making some small adjustments to his game that hopefully pay off. Through his first 6 games, Hagans is averaging 30.3 mpg, 13.2 ppg, 13.2 apg, 3.8 rpg, 1.3 spg, and 2.8 topg on 50% shooting from the field with a cumulative +/- of +76.

After their most recent win over the Raptors, one fan commented on Hagans, "This guy is out there playing like John Stockton and Steve Nash!" While it is still early, it is nice to see the early payoff for the 23 year old guard who couldn't quite find his footing in the CSL yet.

What a start of his Warriors career, hopefully he can keep that up.

Similar to Giddey, I always thought they were both way underrated. It is not easy to stand out in ATL, but they have certainly talent as the have weaknesses. If Hagans can settle down on just solid shooting ratings, he will be always a net positive.

I'm impressed with how he's panned out for you. Sometimes you just need to get a player in the right situation for him and the team to flourish.

I've always liked Hagans even way back in Atlanta and Andre knows that. He seems to have found the best situation for him to showcase his worth, just like Giddey. Ironically both came from Atlanta, so kudos to Andre for picking and flipping gems like them.

Yeah, I think point guard is the most interesting position to experiment and Hagans looks like a top 5 passer and a very nice piece to build around. Great work here, you now have all your 1st's moving forward and could potentially flip Dozier to a contender for a nice package.

Yeah, great start.

There would be a bunch of these guys on rosters that if if you can find them, would fit with another team and explode too.

Problem with both was, that they both didn't fit into the lineups I had in mind. And in Hagans case I wanted to put some instructions down first before any big time at the pro's. Many Gm's must have thought I valued him only because they were 1st round picks, but I knew they can put up stats at least. Happy to see them flourish in their new situation.
They still have to show that they can help a winning team, but I think both situations could be great for them to do just that.
