Not even a complete roster overhaul and the departure of future CSL HoF Ben Simmons can slow down the Heat. New arrivals Cam Johnson, Christ Koumadje, and Brandon McCoy have blended seamlessly with mainstays Dennis Smith and Joshua Smith to produce the league's best offensive rating and net rating.

2. Brooklyn Nets 55-19 1.5 GB
New faces in Brooklyn have been more a feature of the front office than the roster. The core of SGA-Ayton-Williams has been dominant all season as the Nets lead the league in FG% and blocks while being 2nd in PPG, Offensive Rating, and Net Rating. The big question will be whether former NOLA GM Ramcus can navigate the higher rungs of the CSL elite and bring a ring to Brooklyn.
3. Boston Celtics 48-24 7.5 GB
I think it's been a CSL decade since this Celtics core has seen any type of overhaul. They're experienced, talented, and always a playoff threat. And they've got the stats to back it: 2nd in PPGA, 4th in FG%, 3rd in Offensive Rating and Net Rating. They might not have the regular season record of the Nets and the Heat, but few doubt that Boston will be in the running come playoff time.
4. Philadelphia 76ers 46-27 10 GB
The defending champs are hitting their stride just in time for another playoff run. With rumors bubbling that this might be the last season for the Ball-KAT-Bowen-Wagner core, there's no reason for them to all-in for one last hurrah. They're putting up one of the better defenses in the league, including 2nd in rebounding, but their mediocre shooting all season long could leave them exposed in the playoffs.
5. Cleveland Cavaliers 43-30 13 GB
The first year of the Michael Porter experiment in Cleveland has gone fairly well so far. Cleveland's other trades for Kuzma and SJJ give them the playoff experience needed to make a real go at it. But their defense is mediocre at best, especially when it comes to forcing turnovers (28th in blocks, 24th in steals). It's a big ask to outgun a team in the playoffs, but if anyone can do it it's Michael Porter.

6. New York Knicks 40-34 16.5 GB
The entire Knicks franchise hinges on the fortunes of Luka Doncic's wrist. If he's out, this team doesn't stand a chance. If he's playing, then perhaps the trio of Doncic-Winslow-Allen with support from Ferguson and Mathews can make a go of things. Matchups will be essential for NYK: getting paired up with a team with a Luka-stopper, like Chicago, could spell trouble for the Knicks.
7. MIlwaukee Bucks 38-36 18.5 GB
The Bucks have hit a rough patch, going 4-12 in their last 16 and sliding down the standings toward the play-in spots. The core of Brown-Ingram-Gafford remains intact, keeping Milwaukee faithful's hope alive down the stretch. But they'll need a significant improvement, especially offensively, if they're to pose any sort of threat to the conference elite this year.
T8. Toronto Raptors 36-38 20.5 GB
On the flipside, the Raptors are hitting their stride at the right time, winning 5 of their last 6 and 7 of their last 9. Their offense is nothing to brag about, ranking 24th in offensive rating and 23rd in PPG. But their defense, led by Nassir Little, has enough punch to keep them competitive in most games. Hard to see a path forward for these Raptors unless their offense starts firing on all cylinders.
T8. Atlanta Hawks 36-38 20.5 GB
The Hawks, led by Isaac Okoro, have been a .500 team all season long. Going into the playoffs, the Hawks will have to work strategically to overcome their shortcomings on defense: They're worst in the league in defensive rating, 21st in PPGA, 26th in blocks, and 28th in steals. And without an alpha scorer or clear offensive weapon, I imagine that the Hawks won't have the firepower on offense either. The development of Naji Marshall can't come soon enough.
Isaac Okoro has emerged as the Hawks' best player this season. But how good is his supporting cast?
10. Chicago Bulls 35-38 21 GB
The final team in the play-ins will be the Chicago Bulls. The best defense in the CSL combines with one of the worst offenses in the league to create a very average team. 1st in Defensive Rating but 28th in Offensive Rating, these Bulls know how to play an ugly industrial brand of basketball that is no stranger to the Central Division. Midseason acquisitions Zach Collins and Dragan Bender add some spice to an otherwise flavorless offense, but will it be enough?
