Last season as GM

Post by Andrewu91 »

I've thought about this long and hard and figured it was only right to let the league I've grown to appreciate, know, this will be my last season as the Thunder Gm. Coming into the league as a cocky 24 year old who thought I knew everything, with 10k saved up, 20k in credit, driving an Audi and having a beautiful girlfriend. Two years ago everything went sour. I badly herniated my disc where I couldn't walk more than 30 seconds without feeling the worst pain in my life, in my leg. When that happened, I became an angry person. I lost everything I mentioned. I couldn't work, the girl I thought would be my future wife left me because I became very angry and everything else just went down hill. Last April, I had back surgery to take the disc that was wrapped around my nerve off, but that didn't work. The surgery wasn't a successful. Same week, my grandmother passed and my mother had a stroke. Sure I didn't mention it because this is a league I enjoy and don't like mentioning personal issues, but things personally wasn't going right. Figured I'd be honest with everyone. After that, I tried multiple treatments to help, with no success. Recently though, I tried cymbalta and it really has helped my pain.

Basically I need to focus on my life. Graduating college within the next year(hopefully), and need to focus on my personal life. So after this season I will go do what I need to do. Doesn't mean I will be gone for good. I'll be back, better believe that. But I'll be gone for a season or two(6-12 months real life.) Right now, I'm trying to set up the Thunder to be an attractive situation for the next GM. We will see what happens but I won't leave this team in shambles. Still focused on being the first back to back champion. So let's see what happens. But I figured it was right to let everyone know before hand my intentions, instead of writing a little paragraph after the season and going mia.

Hate me or love me, this league became a huge hobby of mine and I've enjoyed it all, and getting to know everyone in the league on a personal level. So let's get this season started already! Haha

You’ve gone through a lot, but I gotta say, you are definitely a better person now than you were even when you joined the league. That says a lot about how you’ve handled the misfortune and have grown from it. While I’m not sure whether or not you’ll still decide to leave at the end of the season, I’m very confident that this will not be your last season in the CSL.

Man, life always come first bro, and it sucks to have gone through so much, something that I can relate when I went away from sim leagues for years.

At the end of the day you got to do what's best for you, and what's happy for you. Taking a break is a good thing if you need it, even though I will hate to see you leave after turning this OKC team into a champion. However, you got to do what's best for ya, and good luck to your future endeavors!

I don’t want to see you leave.
Maybe being a little less active or embracing a rebuild and being patient with the team could help you like it did to me, although I wasn’t patient enough, tried to go at it again and lost all motivation with a different squad.
But if you want to leave like I did, at least you can be sure you are a much better person now than you were when you joined us as 8timechamp.

I hope you stay, for real. There are some paths who doesn’t take much time away from your personal life such as rebuilding, so I hope you try it first before deciding to step away, but in the end it’s up to you. Just make sure to be back with us as you’re a big part of the CSL.

Sad to see you go. But you have won it all and to go out like that and have a 1 year celebration around the league this season is not a bad way to walk away...for now ;)

Update:

With a few GM's leaving the past weeks, it sucks to see some of the vets leave. My plan was to leave also.. but I have decided to stick around. So you all have to deal with me still
