Grizzlies aim for 50 wins plus SW division crown

Wow, this has been a roller coaster season for us. We lost 7 in a row and won 10 in a row. We were 9-15 and the bottom of SouthWest and the Lottery. But we continued to fight. We continued to believe that we are a better team. That we belong in the playoffs.

Well, with 6 games to go, it looks like we are going to make it with a current record of 48-28. We now have a 3 game lead over the MAVS for the division crown. Despite struggling during the last few weeks with injuries, with key players missing time and playing injured (Conley, Martin, Zach, Marc and MIller). The veterans stepped up big time though. MIke James started two games and performed admirably, Nick Calathes was ready to play after being a D-Leaguer for most of the season. Even T.Prince had his moments while Ben Wallace and Kosta Koufos played great off the bench.

Now, with 6 games to go (vsPOR, @ORL, vsPHO, @LAL, @PHO, vsATL) we need to capitalize on this great second half of the season. Not only do want to win the division for the first time ever, but to also secure a solid 50+ win record. At the same time, however, we need to make sure that we allow some rest to our veteran core. We need to enter the playoffs well rested and on a high note but first, lets secure that division crown and aim for the 4th best record in the West.

Question about HCA. I know that winning the division means a top three seed. But if we play a team in another division with a better record - do we still get HCA as a higher seed or they get it as a team with a bettet record?

Yeah you are right, my fault. Its only for seeding.

You were right. I just asked cause i wasn't sure but if we secure SW lead then we should have a top 4 record and HCA in the first round

Your team really toughed it out - similar to the RL Griz. I wouldn't want to face that team in the playoffs (and it doesn't look like I'll have to ;0)

Zbo has quietly had a great season and the inside-outside offense around Zbo/Gasol with Lee/Miller/Martin spacing and Conley playing at a high level has been a success.

What a crazy season you've had but you made a great trade (Kevin Martin), stuck it out thru the ups and downs and now look to be one of the favorites to rep the West.
