Round 1 - pick 14 - Miami Heat

Post by Silogical »

Heat select Dariq Whitehead

Dariq Whitehead || SG/SF || 19yo || 6'6" || 220lb

Strengths
+ Lethal corner and ATB shooting ability
+ Good passer for a SF
+ Good man to man defense potential
+ Good stealing potential
+ Great intangibles

Weaknesses
- Poor mid range shooter
- Mediocre free throw shooter
- Sloppy ball handling
- Overall pretty raw
- Will need preference work

The loss of Cam Johnson hurt the heat a lot more than expected despite bringing in a decent replacement in mitchel. Dariq is very similar to Cam. His handles weakness wont be relevant since he'll take a max one dribble per touch. It is very difficult to find an ATB player and with cam traded dariq at 19 yrs old was a no brainer at 14.

Great potential as a two-way player. Only issue for me are his handles.

Typical Silo pick I may say. Good solid defender and efficient offensive player.

Earlier than where I thought he would go, but an ideal 3&D player. Excellent outside shooter with very good all around defense. Would benefit from a boost more than others. Perfect fit for Miami's system.

Only weaknesses are bad handles, subpar rebounder, and questionable discipline. But a great coach like Silo can work around those.

Maybe one of the most sure-fire role players. Remarkably polished 3&D player for a 19-year-old, and probably should be a rotation player from year 1. Great 3-point shooter who will stay open and get quite a few looks, quality defender with room to grow, and good size. Isn't going to handle or distribute much and that's fine. He's a prototype ~4th option on the floor next to stars.
