This article is just an opportunity for Matty to write something about his man Griffin. What kind of MVP discussions happen after we barely played 5 games out of 82 lol
Agree with Tim also - only players on playoff teams can be considered for the MVP award. Whats the point of fancy numbers if you can't deliver a win?

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar would like to have a word with you. As would Jerry West.

I don't understand your comment.

Kareem won six MVP awards: 1970-71 (Bucks eventual champions), 1971-72 (Bucks WCF), 1973-74 (Bucks made it to the Finals), 1975-76 (Lakers missed the playoffs with a 40-42 record), 1976-77 (Lakers WCF) and 1979-80 (Lakers champions).

West never won the MVP award.

Yeah. I expect Davis' minutes to come down once I can actually submit a DC.

Very early rankings, but hey, nice to see Kanter getting some recognition, even though we are 2-4 lol.

West won the NBA Finals MVP with out winning the series, and you just pointed out for me that KAJ won the regular season MVP with a losing record, so I am pretty sure that you understand my comment.

Yep writing articles is a thankless job! Very few league articles written lately...

I didn't even read the article to be honest, nor did I read many comments. On some articles I just comment to try to keep the motivation of the writer up.
That was one of those cases as I think MVP talks after 5 games is securing scouting points and nothing else.
However, like said, I like your motivation. You are always online on the page and the most active one by far atm. I like that a lot.

100% right but now I have secured an easy article to write for the rest of the year whenever I need extra scouting points I can just update/rewrite the MVP ladder

Any article that entices comments is a good article imo. Regardless of how pointless the article may be.

By the way, I hope this to be a healthy discussion without fights or taking it personal. Just exposing different points of view.

You agreeing with the asinine comment by Jestor is what I don't understand, when clearly that precedent has not been set in any other professional sports league. ;)

But go ahead and vote based on that precedent, it's just ruining the integrity of the award.

Haha everyone has their own criteria. I don't think it's ridiculous at all for someone to refuse to vote for a player on a losing team.

If you want to vote for a player having a great year on a bad team for MVP, go for it. But you just come across like an intolerant asshole when you bash people for not thinking exactly like you do. It's a very subjective award.

What GreenBear said. You probably should use better wording because it gives the impression you're saying things you probably don't want to say.
