No issues with tanking here, you are one of the only teams "Portland" that have done it quickly though I think doing it multiple years should be looked at as a failure! Look at he 76ers in real life they are on year 3 or 4 of the tankathon that team might be really good in 3-4 years but it has alienated its fan base and karma seems to have struck them with embiidlakeshowak7 wrote:He was. It's hard to make trades here without getting worked, gotta do what you gotta do to improve your team.Mattybriand wrote:Jestor wrote:Indiana isn't Tier 1.
But obviously the lakers are.. Hah
You sure you weren't Tanking last year too?

Yeah, no. The only time I've ever tanked was unintentionally in NLL, when I ran 1 Di as an experiment and I got swamped with work so it took me a couple weeks to change it back. Never in any other league though in any form.

You were tanking. You are too capable to be that bad unintentionally.

Re: Lillard/Cousins: The New Age
While thinking tanking isnt exactly the most ethical way in building a team, where my definition of tanking is making clear starters inactive or making strategies that are clearly intended to help you lose. But I have no problems with teams that tear apart a team to collect assets and build through the draft or for teams that continue to try to be competitive and build through trades/free agency. You can be a great gm but they both still require luck to be able to pull it off or at least pull it off quickly.
I dont care what Portland says, and I am not even sure if they will even be a top 4 team in the west this year yet (not a fan of GIannis and a few of their other pieces), but if they didnt land the number 1 overall pick and instead fell to 4 or 5 they would not have acquired Cousins or any other elite player and likely would have been set back a season or two depending on how quickly or even if they found a rip off trade.

Yeah - I thought LAL was going to try when they landed Rondo, then I think buyer's remorse set in either because of Rondo's price tag OR because of the wins he would have added that season in advance of what was touted as a strong draft class.
I've said it before, but when a team so thoroughly drenched with cap space and expirings every year does nothing with it, the "my roster sucks, so it's not tanking" argument goes out the window.
