I also like the idea of using the Coach but I believe there are too many GMs against this

Correct - its pretty much the same as-is the only difference is that you can't change your strategies i.e. offensive set, pace, zone, rebounding etc. It all depends on the Coach

I have always been in favor of using the coach's tendencies. It would make hiring coaches much more meaningful but then we would probably need to utilize a coaching budget which is just something else the admins would need to track out of the game. Too much work IMO.

Re: DDS:PB4
Well, I've never seen PB4 so if you guys say it's not worth the change keep PB3 running here and let's move on. I honestly don't care that much as long as some CAPs who has been implemented are reviewed and loosen a bit (like, moving DI + FCP cap a bit higher so a team can actually play FCP without being killed on DI..) or move Pace CAP to 5 so a team can play at 5 speeds and the difference from 1 to 5 is big enough to validade the "slow down the tempo" offense.. But all of that is for the offseason, we're just fine right now. I love that we're finally building something here, and our community is growing strong.. Lost some great guys recently in dapralbe and goikiri but new GMs who have joined are more than picking up for their activity so we're very strong right now.

Agree with Willy. I'd be up for coaches also.
No to DDS4 either. Why give them money for something they could have patched into DDS3. Money grab.

Using Coaches is just not possible because you cant see their strategies before hiring them. And like already said it's not easy to track the salaries. I love the league, but the last few weeks I hit the upper bound of the time available for SIM leagues.

I do agree that setting up restrictions like this there will some GMs that still try to find "hacks" just to win, which is a shame. I think this is something in the off-season we can re-visit and keep refining until the system is as good as it can be and prevents these hacks from making their way into the league and being effective, but I think that only a very small (if any present GMs) look for these types of things.WillyJakkz wrote:I do not like the strategy caps that have been implemented, it got to the point where ridiculous lineups such as McRoberts at SG and Horford at SF had to be and could be used as a work around technique due to strat limitations.
Lots and loads of work was used to figure out how to balance the League due to the all 10's strat but it's effected offensive diversity and that is a huge problem to me.
Limiting offensive pace to a max of 3 kills any options of trying to slow down a killer offense thus rendering strategy even more useless.
I'm also still an advocate of using coaches strategies though.

You'd still change the depth chart and sub matrix, but you would be locked into whatever strat settings the coach has.

Even if not implemented here, I'd love to be part of a League that does use the coaches strats as it makes it more realistic.Jestor wrote:You'd still change the depth chart and sub matrix, but you would be locked into whatever strat settings the coach has.
I'd also love if the creator of dds or even psb(?) would implement true fan support.
Nothing made me more irate than seeing my oCSL Rockets go on that improbable finals run only to have fan support stay the very same level the very next season... complete let down as I thought it would raise to High and have more luxury box sales etc. The same should go for teams that aren't good and remain bad for some time like my 2yr Orlando Magic run, fan support should wane and improve as the team improves.
Actually can't remember if I went to Wolverine Studios website and made that suggestion.

Hahahahaha you don't said the true, last year you copy all tens for win the league but you can't win indiana. And this year you put a ridiculous zone 10 with a very good defenders man to man but all have 0, 8 pa/sf. You are a false man. You want win the league too...

Haha of course I want to win, I'm pretty sure thats what everyone is trying to do. Using a 10 zone isn't a hack, in fact its a way to get blown out against a lot of teams in the league. Its something that will change depending on each playoff matchup. Using a power forward at SG and a SG at Center I would say is a way that you tested to see what kind of edge you can find around the strat caps since you gave up on the season 10 times before making that change and saw your team start winning again. The fact that your 2nd best player in Teague was the 10th man also shows how ridiculous that was.dapralbe wrote:emplep7 wrote:I do agree that setting up restrictions like this there will some GMs that still try to find "hacks" just to win, which is a shame. The all 10's was a hack and everyone used it last year because if you didn't you got blown out. This year, you have to find what works for your team and each team has something a little different, which I think is good. If I started playing Jennings at C and Monroe as my 2 guard then you are free to call me whatever you want.
I might have gotten smoked by Indiana last year, but I made waste of your team in the playoffs if I remember right. But who's counting though...

Let's go by parts, these wrong again. I'm not admin if you were him and I have no access. I see that you don't understand the usage, 2 and 3 stats and not the number of shots that your players receive. They are numbers. Jeff teague has a high use and bad jumper and scoring too, make you good horford, mcroberts etc. Calderon has little usage but does play the rest of the companions. With the pace three tall men benefit from horford and mcroberts have good jumper, ball handing and pass with what without full court can play out. Horfor 66 jump 52 pasing mcroberts 71 jump and 46 pass 56 ball handing. In defence they plug the shots well with high zone.and pull them so with 0.8 pa/sf these improving much, this is my idea, but by analyzing the numbers and statistics and see that it was failing in my team who were playing together affalo korver and teague. He studied well the stats ratings and other things that offers the game and you'll discover new things. Other bug is number of shoots that the opponent try vs you. Jeff teague and affalo have 1, 1 =55% the opponent and mcrobers and horford 0, 8 or 0, 9. With ball movement gay and millsap, that have bad jumper bit decent inside is a goo combine.

On topic I hope we re-visit the strategy guidelines this offseason as I actually think lowering offensive pace to maximum of 3 may not have balanced the League out quite as much as once believed as it appears the same teams are still on top of the pyramid while a slower pace killed any way of possibly slowing down a team since I really can't see much of a difference from 1-3 vs having the option of 1-10 (obviously).
Also my understanding from daprapbe's explanation seems similar to my theory of Giannis and Biz's playing of Harden at PG due to height and ratings vs the typical player of said position, add that to a slower pace means the offense will not be able to be ran fast enough to exploit a McRoberts or Horford who were at SG and SF at the time so the advantage would be to the taller stronger player with a slower pace in my estimation.

Re: DDS:PB4
Correct willy i explain better in spanish my lenguage but this is the basic idea, only you can this with i think four big mansplaying in sg and sf. mcroberts, horford pau gasol and crish bos i think. They have a very good ratings in shoots pass ball handing. And obviusly lose a balls but have a few touches, but compense the rest of parts of the game.
with high zone horford and rudy gay for example can block shoots sg and sf good the other teams, because have very versatile qualities. But in other hand, pg good for example irving, rose etc can destroy my few stops of pg and sg.
We will have a problem i think with this teams. Months ago i propused in one article that cap only zone and full court 3, we don't have bugs because this areas don't have specific rating. And you can't controlled this.
For example defense rating (defense intensity+discipline) if hou cap full court and zone to 3, high defense without discipline more fauls, you can defend and force loses and steals but no ridiculous easy basket (high full court+high pace)
Rebounds (rating offensive and defensive rebound) no problem. And finally pace with cap zone and full court that don't used in real life, you can put high pace but if you don't have good shooters with or iq you fail the shoots and don't have a ridicolus track with full court and zone (zone press). Buff i hope that you can understand my bad english. i trying improve. with this my team is dead for years (no stops, defense, iq discipline etc.)

No worries my friend, we both speak the language of basketball!
I get what you mean, basically IF we do need to cap strategies, capping zone defense and full court defense may be a better option than capping offensive pace along with the other capped strategies.

Yes but with defense intensity you can put 1-10 no problem, if you have bad defenders and poor discipline more fauls. Is important capped zone and full court to 3. Only this the rest of the game is fine.

And again, what you explained is right because it worked for your team. You obviously put a lot of time analyzing this game and finding what works and what doesn't. The reason I call this a hack is because if you put Josh McRoberts at the SG position IRL, he would get dismantled and sent to the d league. The coach would be fired immediately and the team would be the worst in the NBA. Similar to why its not plausible to run a 10 FCP at 10 DI for an entire game. I know this is a sim league and certain things won't be real because this isn't, but I think for the league's sake, we need to fin ways to limit these un-realistic situations and this is one of them.
I'm not doubting what you are stating above, I'm just stating that its a hack against the system and how basketball works in real life.

Looking into adjusting the offensive pace cap to limit something like this could be a definite solution for next season. Dennis is good about experimenting and finding out ways around most of these things, but it gets time consuming.WillyJakkz wrote:I want ATL and DET to meet in the Playoffs so bad now

Before next season we will adjust the system again sligthly. Im already running tests, but wont change anything before next season. Ive noticed myself that it doesnt work like hoped. However you cant deny the league is already way more realistic compared to last season. It was only the first step of many.

We have Summer League to run lots of tests if needed! I already like that the league is way more realistic indeed, even though I don't like strategy Caps (but they are needed, I'd just make few tweaks to them), and with more tests and improvement, we'll find the perfect balance between giving GMs more tactical flexibility and league more realism!Dennis wrote:Before next season we will adjust the system again sligthly.
