We suck. Lose by 2 due to turnovers and free throw disparity despite being much more efficient. I need to figure this game out.

Also i just looked over our schedule. The unbalance is crazy. Of our 27 games 16 are on the road while in comparison UNC has 12 and Duke only 11 road games.

We will lucky to be above .500 this year

We got our second win in as many games with this being our first road tilt of the season. It’s becoming clear that Richard Carter – a junior shooting guard – is asserting himself as alpha male of the Drexel Dragons. His 18 points in this game led all scorers, connecting on six of his 13 field goal attempts including 3-6 from deep and 3-4 from the charity stripe. He also chipped in six boards, four steals and a block.

One kid that I was excited about coming into the season was freshman walk-on shooting guard Alan Asbury. Off the bench in just ten minutes of play he poured in 13 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting including three three-pointers along with four rebounds. He may see a minutes increase…as well as a scholarship offer coming his way towards season’s end.

Looking at the box score, it’s clear our defense is going to be boom-or-bust. We play full court press almost always, looking to turn the other team over or force a bad shot. The risk with that is giving up easy buckets on the other end. Georgia Southern was able to shoot 51% from the floor for the game, but their 19 turnovers are what did them in. We also shot 13-25 from beyond the arc, giving us a 15-point advantage from three which was absolutely huge for us in this one.

We continue to play good team basketball as we blow past Eastern Michigan 86-62. Our defense has been outstanding these three games which has helped the offense get in transition. We shoot 67% from behind the arch going 12 for 18. Abraham Love continues to struggle as he fouled out this game and has been ineffective in these games. Love was in the top 30 in the Norton watch so he is going to have to find a way to stay out of foul trouble in the future if he wants to stay in it. Overall very happy with the start even with us playing lesser opponents.

Austin Peay 69 Nebraska 79

A second home win on the bounce for the Cornhuskers thanks to a strong 2nd half display after being down 9 at the half. Another good team display with 5 players all getting double figure points totals, including a game winning bench display from walk on centre, John Wane. His 13 points, 7 of which came from the line, was the big difference between the 2 benches, and he added 9 rebounds, 5 of them offensive, to drive Nebrasksa on the second half charge. Likely he will take over starting duties from the pointless freshman, Mario Jones, who only contributed 2 rebounds in a dismal display.
Freshman Trombley managed a good 13 point display, and in the backcourt it was 24 points shared between Clark and Drexler, and they also helped out with 9 assists and 11 rebounds between them.

Delighted to have won both home games, now it is time to hit the road for 5 road games, before the JAG Invitational before Christmas. First up is the Arizona Wildcats(0-2) who will be looking for a win to get their season going.

Marquette Humbled by Jersey Boys in OT

Marquette suffered a humiliating home loss in overtime to New Jersey Tech last night at the Bradley Center. Despite dominating the boards and generating eight more shot attempts and 17 more free throws, Marquette's miserable shooting and 15 turnovers led to their ultimate demise.

Forward Syniker Hart led the way with a one for nine shooting night, while point guard Antonio Bachmann posted a three for 12 night. Guard Lance Jack led Marquette with 23 points, while forward Tyrone Hemphill came off the bench with 12 points in 14 minutes. On the night, Marquette shot 39% from the field and 29% from long range, while allowing NJT to hit 53% of their own shots and 50% from three point land.

Asking the Athletic Director to schedule lots of home softies or asking for tough games at home can help with the schedule. You can do that starting at the beginning of recruiting until the schedule is fixed.

Also, teams with lower prestige will wind up with more road games as they have to scramble to put together their schedules, whereas everyone wants to play the more prestigious teams (in real life to generate more income, which the game addresses behind the scenes with the prestige rating).
