Round 2 - Pick 37 - Atlanta Hawks

Post by Flaming Homer »

with the 37th pick the Atlanta Hawks select SF Jaylen Martin

Image

Jaylen enters the CSL as raw as they come. His decision to skip college ball may come back to bit him later on.
Still, the Hawks scout were seeing a lot of potential. If he ever gets his head straight and focuses on hitting the gym and studying the game, he can be a above average offense player, especially driving to the hoop and from midrange.

His physical tools should also allow him to be a pesky defender.

But everything comes down to his development in the next 2-3 years. It's up to him if he ever see's the floor in a CSL game.

Damn, was hoping he would slip to me. Super freaking raw, lazy as hell but has some intriguing upside.
Porter/Nelson/Shead
Vincent/Podz/DeVico
Dunn/Jacquez/Butler
Mobley/Stephens/Soriano

Didn't interview him, so that will be an surprise.
He needs a boost or he probably ends quickly in the recycler.

I didn't interview him, so I can't confirm. But yeah, Silo's article about him indicated his interviews were not great.

That said, he was in the final 2 for my selection next pick. At this point I'm the draft, it's worth a gamble on his talent.

Martin is honestly pretty wildly talented, and capable of being almost anything on the floor. Big time three-level scoring arsenal, beginnings of playmaking, beginnings of defense and rebounding... he could very well become a stat sheet stuffer. But he has a ton of work to do, starting with his efficiency. However, he's the type to wear out his welcome quickly, and could be extremely frustrating both for his greedy on-court play, and off-court antics. If he somehow reaches his full potential, it's worth the drama.
