Who are we?

Post by Andrewu91 »

Who are the New York Knicks? We usually say they are a 1 man team and his play depends on how far the Knicks will go. But with other players stepping up, are the Knicks more than 1 player?

Let's take a deep dive into the roster. The Knicks have do it all Luka, defenders in Ferguson, Sheppard and Hunter. Their bigs Bagley, Porter and Bradley. Shooters in Mathews, Ferguson, Hunter.

While I feel like we are in between pretenders and contenders, the roster and balance are very exciting to think about. It may have taken two firsts to get the team that will win consistently, but can they win it all?

Since the deadline trades, Marvin Bagley is averaging 18-13-3. Porter is averaging 14-8 and Bradley is averaging 16-8. Are those three enough to help the rest of the roster. Is it enough to win the CSL Championship?

With Luka helming the PG spot and SF spot when needed, he has the bigs and the perimeter players to pass to. Sheppard, Hunter and Ferguson are low usage, so the bigs can eat. But they will shoot and all are very valuable once the CSL Playoffs begin. The question is still to this day, Garrison Mathews.

Some games Matthews will show he can step up when players get into foul trouble. Other games he doesn't step up and the games become close. Mathews could be the make or break depth player that ultimately decides the Knicks fate.

What do y'all think? Knicks are 10-1 their last 11 games. Feedback is great to have and I wonder how you guys feel about this team.

Go Knicks.

Giving up this 2 1sts' to acquire two proven vets like Hunter and Bagley should not bother you. It is all in with Doncic on board and the roster has more depth now. Loosing Allen hurts a bit (at least I like him a lot) but it looks like Bagley got some motivation back, sniffing this title chance.

The overall balance looks like you can adjust to all of the Eastern playoff teams and Doncic just needs to be healthy going into the post season.

It will be a tough test reaching the finals with stacked teams like Philly and Miami and also some AI but still top teams in BKN and BOS. Also scary the new "Vogel - Pistons", meeting them on their current run could be rough for every team.

Good luck, you did your roster work to put all the pieces in place.

Thanks

I feel we need one more depth piece to become a true contender.

Hopefully we pull off a Timberwolves run and win it all. But for that to happen, no more injuries.

I see the Knicks as legit contenders this season. You've done a great job accumulating some good depth pieces, Good defense, and finding a big in Bagley who is a 20/10 threat every night is huge. Biggest concern here is health obviously. Doncic and Bagley need to stay healthy, and Porter is a key piece for the playoffs who is unfortunately quite delicate.

Thanks, I remember two seasons ago I lost Luka during the last quarter of the season. He didn't come back until Game 5 against Boston. Too little too late at that point.

Might rest Luka the remainder of the season. Maybe Bagley too, so I have my three best players in Luka, Bagley & Porter all healthy come post season.

ECF is a possibility and depending on a matchup with the favorites Philly and Atlanta anything can happen and you can make it to the Finals.

Good luck

You have Doncic. All that matters if you have a half decent supporting cast.

I feel an injury coming which is why minutes are lowered a tad. I was #4 seed when I won with the Thunder so I'm aiming for the 4th seed as good luck charm lol.

Right. Crazy how the Hawks looked like a middle of the pack team and after trading for Lamelo, Andre made them a contender.

Thanks.

I have Luka and he's just like real life Luka. The team needs to be built around him.

Are you saying I don't have a decent supporting team?

I'll elaborate some more.

You have Doncic. All that matters if you have a half decent supporting cast.. which you seem to have given your current record and Doncic's impressive stat line.

Doncic destroyed me one post season. Averaged 45 points or something and I couldn't do anything about it haha so again, you have Doncic. Just need that supporting cast and yeah, he can do some serious damage so yeah, the Knicks have enough to win it with him.

The -4 scr nerfed him a tad, so he's not like he used to be, but still a superstar.

And gotcha, thanks for the input.

Yeah that's because he's a genius and did something I never thought of doing and played LaMelo at SF

I mentioned that to you several times to try that since Luka was SF. Don't remember? Lol

Got just lucky there, was just really afraid of LaMelo's DI lol

He is indeed a central part of our recent play, but there is much more to that. Pretty much everybody of my core has a above average season, that adds up in the end. How much that is sustainable? Not sure.
