Spurs on Their Heels

Post by Cyrisnyte »

The Spurs had started off the season going 3-0. After last night's game in San Antonio against Miami, they now sit at 3-2. The Heat took on the Spurs who had a really tough time as Kawhi Leonard convinced coach Greg Popovich to let him play even though he was less than 90% (didn't get my changes in). The outcome was a 123-106 beatdown by the Heat on San Antonio's home court.

It's just a loss right?

Well, not really.

Things went bad fast after this reverse layup by Splitter

Moments after scoring against the Heat on a reverse layup, Tiago crumbled to the ground. News out of San Antonio is not good. Tiago Splitter will miss the next 223 days with a torn ACL. This pretty much puts a lid on the season early on for the Spurs unless they are able to pull off a trade for a big man.

Tiago had been rumored to be part of multiple trade rumors coming out of San Antonio but after last nights game, the phones have stopped ringing.
Greg Popovich,
"What can you say? It's all part of the game. I was really worried with letting Kawhi play with his strained hamstring and we end up with the devastating news that Tiago will now be out all season. We need to figure out our next move now as this one really hit us below the belt.
With an aging Duncan and Manu, the Spurs may enter rebuild mode sooner than expected...
Harrison -- Young --- ZDK --- AA --- WCJ
Duval -- O'Neale -- Okeke -- Reid -- N'Diaye

LOOOOL that alone was worth every second of my life I spend reading articles!
To be honest it's no shame to lose against the Miami Heat. They are the favorites to win it all, starting with LeBron, Wade and Bosh, and their manager has done a nice job with trades and rotations / tactics. Their 5-1 score reflects that.

I think you have enough pieces to move for an interior and continuing competing. But if you really choose the rebuilding path send me a PM and lets negotiate for some players :)

As a person currently going through rehab from a torn ACL myself, I feel for the simulated Tiago. I wish I had a definitive countdown in terms of days to when I was back to playing sports. :P

In all seriousness, I still think the Spurs can rebound from this. The season is early, and you lost to the heat. Not the end of the world. Plenty of quality centers available on the market!

GB just wants to get an offer for Okafor Jeff :P!

Losing Tiago for the season is really tough man. Is the nLL injury bug joining us here? Hope you find a rotation to be a contender this year without Splitter.

Anxious to see who you get to replace Splitter as he was a very important part of the Spurs success.

Good luck man.
