Early Predictions ROY

Post by Dennis »

#1 Bogdan Bogdanovic
Predicted Stats: 16 Points, 5 Assists, 4 Rebounds, 44%FG, 39%3P
Bogdan will have a strong rookie campaign. Next to Ricky Rubio he will be Charlotte's primary backcourt scorer and watching him play alongside the spanish playmaker will be fun. Its questionable if Bogdan will be able to use all his secondary playmakig as Rubio will demand most of the touches, but I could see Bodganovic running the show for the second unit from the offguard position. So far hits hard to predict how developed his shot is, but with solid shooting numbers he should be able to score 16 points per game with 5 assits. Though he wont be a great defender.

#2 Walter Tavares
Predicted Stats: 11 Points, 11 Boards, 1.5 Blocks, 60%FT, 50%FG
Who said we have to be scared if Walter ever reaches his potentials? Look at him, he's already a force. He's 7-3 265lbs and will draw contact nearly everytime. He will have some foultrouble in his first season and needs to work on his ballhandling badly, but he will be a double-double machine for Los Angeles and should be a decent defender too. If he improves his shotblocking during trainingcamp he could be one of the few bigs averaging 10/10/2 next season. And keep in mind its his rookie season.

#3 Richard Solomon
Predicted Stats: 15 Points, 9 Rebounds, 1 Steal, 1 Block, 42%FG
Richard was a steal. Getting him that late was insane for Sacramento. Though Solomon has one problem. He's shooting the J way too much and he just cant hit them. As soon as bt has teached him to post up RS will be one of the best young powerforwards in the league. Despite his bad shooting percentages Solomon will do eveything, he can board, he has the will to score, wont foul out and plays very intelligent. On top he should be able to add a steal and block per game.

#4 Jabari Parker
Predicted Stats: 19 Points, 6 Rebounds, 45%FG, 37%3P
His score rating is already nice, but to be honest, he wont do much else despite scoring points. He will be a decent rebounder in his first season but thats it. Jabari will need a few season to develope. Though you cant ignore the player who will most likely lead all rookies in points. Especially if Thad Young gets traded. Rumors are saying New York is offering a nice package for the tweener to put him next to Anthony.

#5 Doug McDermott
Predicted Stats: 18.5 Points, 47%FG, 39%3P
Pretty much the same like Jabari.. Will Doug do much else then scoring points? Probably not, but he will be efficient while scoring close to 20 points, and thats not bad a for a rookie. It seems he doesnt have much potentials left but should be well suited as a 6th man scoring wing.

#6 Elfrid Payton
Predcited Stats: 11 Points, 4.5 Assists, 3 Rebounds, 1.5 steals (..and a bunch of TO), 40%FG
Payton can do it all but will struggle protecting the ball as he just doesnt have the ability to handle the ball on CSL-level yet. On top he wont be very efficient. But he will be the best defensive minded rookie this season. Will it be enough to make up for his ballhandling problems and shooting flaws?

#7 Roy Devyn Marble
Predicted Stats: 13 Points, 4 Rebounds, 1.5 Steals, 45%FG, 41%3P
Great pick by New York this late. He will be a starter right away for the Knicks and should be a great fit next to Carmelo on the wings. The only question is if he gets enough touches next to Anthony and Smith to score enough points to be in the play for ROY honors. Anyway Marble's efficiency, ability to shoot the three and his strong defense are good enough to take him into consideration for the award.

What are your thoughts? Who will be the ROY?

I think Parker has a good chance mainly because he will be the primary option on that Philly team. Tavares and Bogdanovic will also put up some good stats across the board.

Gotta be Parker really.

My guys need work. Solomon will be good once I get him inside more but I'm concerned with Payton though. I read pre-draft that he had a good inside game but I'm also reading shooting flaws.

I agree with bt and Parker is my early prediction. He'll immediately be the #1 scoring option in Philly and he's got a pretty good PG in MCW to get him the ball. I like your pick of Bogdanovic though, and I have him right behind Parker. He should play really well alongside Rubio (much like Bradley flourished next to him after I traded him to Toronto).

I like Tavares and believe he's going to be one of the best big men in the near future, but my expectations for him are a little more tempered for his rookie year. Both pre-draft articles that mention him agree that he'll likely become a very good player, but that he's a project (since he only just started playing competitive basketball). And 11 rebounds as a rookie? Only one player averaged 11+ rebounds in the entire CSL last year (and only 8 averaged 10+). I get that he's big, and has good rebounding ratings, but 9 per game seems like a more realistic expectation.

My dark horse pick is Bryce Cotton. I'm not sure exactly what New Orleans has in store for him, but if given the chance, I think he'd put up really good offensive numbers right away (already very good passing, handling and IQ ratings). He might be stuck getting backup minutes behind Jrue Holiday though, which is why he's just a dark horse.

Yeah Cotton should be mentioned here too. A Holiday-Cotton backcourt will be great. They will force so many TO.

This is the plan. Currently, Cotton will start at PG and Holiday will slide over to SG.
