Bucks round up roster

Post by mgtr81 »

The 2018 Free Agency period is close to an end in the CSL, and teams are just filling their available roster spots. One of those teams is the Milwaukee Bucks, who filled their 15-player roster with two signings in the last three days.

After losing Kyle Lowry, who decided to join the Memphis Grizzlies as a free agent, the Bucks set their goal in acquiring Shannon Scott. However, that did not happen right after Lowry's departure, since Scott's demands were above what the Bucks could offer. Four players signed for the team in the meantime: veterans Patrick Mills, Thabo Sefolosha and Kaleb Tarczewski and undrafted rookie Mike Muscala. While some had the impression those signings corresponded to the "Lowry effect", they were not. They were all planned ahead, as regardless of Lowry's continuity on the squad their skillsets were required to help the team reach the next level. It was Scott who was the one chosen as Lowry's replacement.

At age 24, Scott is a very solid all-around player, despite not being great at any particular area. At 6'2" and 175 lbs, the former Ohio State alum fits the bill for the Bucks. He will start his fourth season as a pro, after stints in Detroit, Dallas, Miami and Boston. While he has not had many chances in the CSL so far, Scott's numbers looked intriguing to the Bucks Front Office: a career 36.7 % three-point shooter whose averages per 36 minutes would correspond to 9.3 points, 7.2 assists and 3.7 rebounds.
Randy Wittman wrote:We are very happy to have Shannon with us. He is a young player who still needs to make a name for himself. However, we do not want to put much pressure on him or to be unfair: he is not Kyle. We are not expecting him to have that big of a role. What we want from him is solid output in the areas of the game we need him to contribute. He is a solid defender but we want him to get better. He may have to learn that with LeBron, even if he is the point guard, he may play off the ball sometimes. This will be a learning process, but we hope he can adapt soon, whether it is as a starter or coming off the bench.
The last signing to close out the roster was Perry Jones. The 26-year-old forward can play either as a tall three or a strecth four. At 6'11" and 234 lbs, he is a versatile player, as head coach Randy Wittman likes. A former Baylor alum, he will join fellow Bear and rookie Quincy Acy. After being member of the Thunder, Lakers and Pelicans, Jones spent last season in the Development League as a member of the Salt Lake City Warriors. He is another good outside shooter, with a pro career percentage of 39.7. On a per 36 minutes basis, his career averages are 9.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals. Coach Wittman hopes Jones can become a solid role player for the team.

Randy Wittman wrote:We always liked Perry. We thought about signing him last season, before the playoffs, but then we did not. We thought it could be worth trying him on the team this season, so we reached out to his agent and we got the deal done. He is an interesting young player who could give us some things we lack. But then again, and as in Shannon's case, we do not want to put too much pressure on him.
The Bucks have now 15 players under contract for next season, as the team is now planning for training camp and the coaching staff is eager to start working with the 2018-19 roster. It has been less than a year since the franchise saw a new General Manager arrive, and out of the 15 players on the roster, only three remain from previous management.

Typical Manu off-season. . .half the league has no idea who these guys are but you'll find a way to get the best out of them and be at the top of the East again.

How much will Scott develop during TC will dictate if that was a good signing or not. But, hey, pretty low risk there so why not?
Sefo, Mills and Kaleb are very solid though!

Scott, Mills and Kaleb all have been on Boston's roster at some point in history.. So yeah, good signings :P.. Im pretty sure it was the main reason you signed them.
Seriously, I would have loved to see you get Lowry back. That team would have been deadly. Now it's pretty much a wildcard. Definitely a playoff team, but it will be tough to make the top 4.

One of the best in game managers I've seen. You recovered losing Lowry and most wouldn't be able to, congrats. LBJ/Smith/Monroe is a pretty good core and you get a lot out of your role players.

Lowry got paid big bucks for a reason. The PG free agency class was weak, that's why i jumped on Collison. Scott and Mills should be good towel waivers. Lebron will play PG for 33+ minutes per game. I like the Richardson signing, I had my eye on him.

You always find the unknown players that no one touches, and make them into useful players. I think your team will do very well once again.

Alongside James and Monroe he's the only player remaining from previous management. I just tried him in a certain setup and it worked.
