The good offseason continued for the Milwaukee Bucks today. After seeing Josh Richardson sign a new contract on the very first day of Free Agency, two days later Greg Monroe has decided to put his signature on a five-year, $94,314,370 contract. And not only that, but that signing has allowed the Bucks to get under the luxury tax and acquire Josh Smith from the Denver Nuggets, in exchange for Tobias Harris, Mo Williams, Jarell Martin and the Bucks second round selection in the 2021 draft. What a busy day in Milwaukee.

Monroe, 29, is considered one of the finest big men in the CSL, and as such he has signed a max deal to remain in Milwaukee. Last season, he averaged 22.4 points, 12.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.6 blocks, while converting 52.0 % of his field goal attempts and 68.1 % of his free throws. A player in his prime, there was no doubt the Bucks were willing to spend everything they could in order to bring him back.

We're extremely happy to have Greg back. He is one of the best players in this league. He can do so many things it's amazing. Of course he got paid, but that's what you do when you have such a player on your roster. He can play either center or power forward, he scores and controls the boards. How many players can do that? And he's 29. We're happy and we know he is,too. We are excited and looking forward to next season. This could be a great year for Bucks fans.

And part of that excitement has to do with the trade that was just submitted to the CSL office. Smith, 32, is one of the best two-way players in the CSL. A great physical player, can contribute in all areas of defense: can play man-to-man, block shots, force turnovers ... At 6'9" and 240 lbs, he adds even more muscle to an already strong team.

We had been looking at Josh for long, and when we had the chance we made it happen. He is so versatile ... he can play all three frontcourt positions and is an amazing defender. The options we will now have are a lot. He will allow us to switch players and positions without losing quality. We are so excited we can't wait for the season to start. Of course, we wish Tobias, Mo and Jarell the best, but this is something we needed to do.

The Bucks are still negotiating with Kyle Lowry, and the team hopes that he signs in the coming days. Basketball fans in Milwaukee may be optimistic about next season.

Dollar for dollar I think of Smith as one of the worst long term deals but guys production is going to be tremendous with LeBron Moose and Lowry.

Definitely got better this offseason.

In a vacuum, Josh Smith definitely has one of the five worst contracts in the league, but your team is damn talented now. Assuming you can retain Lowry, you have a dope team for the next couple years. Hopefully LeDecline isn't too drastic.

Sure, his contract stinks, but he's perfect with the Bucks's win now mentality. This team with Lowry, LBJ, Monroe, and James is going to be a force in the East.

He seems like a pretty efficient offensive player, 50% shooting.

you're right - I always thing Josh is inefficient for some reason, perhaps comparing him to his real life counterpart

The contact is massive but talent wise he's still a good pickup. If Lowry returns, Bucks will be primed.

You are all in and that's what I love. It's always all or nothing and Josh is a really great addition. Who cares if he's overpaid, you need help now and you got him "cheap".
