2018 CSL Award Results

The voting has closed and I want to thank everyone for participating in the voting. All but two GMs voted, which is a great showing and something we want to continue into next year. Let's look at who took home the goods this year...

The 2018 CSL Most Valuable Player was:

Notes: We have a reigning MVP with James Harden taking the big lead in this category yet again. Paul George who was second in last years voting didn't get a single vote this year. Also, no other player in the league scored higher than 4 after these 5 listed above.

The 2018 CSL Defensive Player of the Year was:

Notes: The DPOY vote this year also goes to the reigning champ with Okaro White taking the honors yet again. Surprisingly, Otto Porter got much less love this year with no first place votes and only 8 total points this year. MKG recieved one write-in 2nd place vote for the year as well.

The 2018 CSL Rookie of the Year was:

Notes: In a landslide victory, SJIII took this award all the way to the bank with little to no competition. In fact, this was a pretty cut and dry vote. For the 2nd year in a row, the 1st overall pick (coincidentally from GS again) was 4th in the voting and failed to take home the prize.

The 2018 CSL Sixth Man of the Year was:

Notes: Carmelo Anthony ends up in a category that shows he is coming into the twilight of his career. Reigning champ Isaiah Thomas wasn't even considered this year due to his down year.

Notes: In a pretty tight battle at the top, Giannis takes this even though he had less 1st place votes than Wiggins and Lin.

Notes: Incredibly surprised that BizGilwalker received no votes for having the top record, but not by Riot taking the crown this year. Some other playoff teams received 2nd and 3rd place votes, but no 1sts.

No big surprises here
Charlotte deserved the award for the roster creation done last summer. Their team went from 26 to 48 wins.
Jaboo could have taken home the award as well (from 24 to 50) and it wouldn't shock me
If we had to elect a coach of the year, I would go for mgtr1 who was able to get the best of his roster.

Will be good to have them published officially on the forum so no conflict of interest here. You would be probably suspicious when Drummond, Gasol and Kawhi all make the 1st team

Nice to see Okaro win DPotY for the second straight year.

That was a really close race for MIP between Giannis, Lin and Wiggins. All 3 are deserving of the award. A year ago, some GMs thought Wiggins was a bust. Now he's a budding superstar. I'm looking forward to watching his career unfold.

Congrats to Riot for a well-deserved GMotY award. He's done a great job turning Charlotte into a force to be reckoned with.

I was worried Randle was going to diablerize the MIP votes from Giannis and cost him the award. Almost happened, but it didn't, and so now I can add my second MIP award in as many leagues (Tyshawn Taylor with the Heat in NLL). And two in Top 5, plus another one who was on my roster for much of the year with a couple first place votes. Awesome.

Porter a little bit shafted. Should have won it last year but was definitely below the top defensive guys this year and it showed in the metrics.
