Lebron James-Kevin Durant Dynamic Duo

Post by Silogical »

Image

Sources close to Kevin Durant say he is leaning towards teaming up with Lebron James. It is rare the two best players in any league would compliment each other so well. it is even rarer for those two players to have the opportunity to join forces in their prime. This opportunity just seems too good for Lebron and Kevin to pass up. Lebron James will finish his career next to one of the greatest scorers of all time. Kevin Durant will get to play next to a guy who can defend the other teams best player, rebound, run the floor, draw the opposing defenses attention and create for his teammates. Durants crazy efficiency would get even crazier.

Image

Could the two best players in the league play side by side? Pretty simple to answer that question as they already played side by side for team USA and completely dominated the competition. Lebron and Kevin put in countless hours working out together in preparation for team USA. The chemistry they built up and what they could accomplish playing on the same team has to be weighing heavily on their minds.

Rival Execs believe Lebron and Kevin have two options. Either leave their team and join an already elite team with cap room, or join forces and create their own elite team. One rival exec believes Lebron or Kevin re-signing with their current team without the other would be the biggest mistake of their careers. It would most likely lead to neither of them ever winning a CSL ring.

This is actually the scenario that I thought would happen, the pairing would lead to instant title contention in Miami.

Great story but I don't see how this would be legal. We floated to the agents about freeing up more cap and making an offer for both Durant and James and were told it's not allowed as the cap has to be available right now, not freed up after day 2 via trade and then present. With LeBrons cap hold, you only have enough after he signs and that's well after the day 2 deadline so in the same line, not a legal offer.

Not a fan of the day 2 deadline as with the shenanigans of Durant and this one year stuff, we would have seriously considered making LeBron an offer but can't do anything since it's after day 2.

The agents most likely differentiate between cap room is available no matter what vs trades can be made to clear up cap room. The ladder you can make an offer to durant/lebron then if you dont like the trades dont make them leaving your offer invalid. If the trades were completed before day 2 youd be fine.

Interesting. Didn't realize anyone had that kind of cap space. Anxious to see what these two are actually considering. Today is the day, right?

Not when I could dump Parsons with the click of a mouse but was still told no. I would still assume yours is the exact same case. You can't bid for Durant with only 14 million in cap space as you only have more after LeBron signs.

and if you're allowed to do so, then I assume anyone can bid on Durant/James after the day 2 deadline as that's essentially what you're doing.

Yeah I honestly felt like LeBron Durant in Miami made alot of sense as well although LeBron is a SF he can play multpile spots and succeed as I'd play him at PG or SF.

As far as the offer deadline wasn't a fan of it as well as the window was very small to work with making it a gamble but it is understandable as well as PA's may get great last 2nd offers but would also be a time dragging situation.

I would love the challenge of competing against that duo as I don't see the rest of the team being a matchup issue.

Also the only thing about the scenario is what if said GM gained both assets in LeBron KD only to have the motive to trade one after TR due to "it not working" (whether true or not), then I'd have a slight problem with that.

Why couldn't they agree to play together but have Lebron sign first. Wait for the hold to come off and then have the free space for Durant the next day? As long as Durant agreed, there's no harm in that.

I have no idea what their cap situation is and am just speculating. I don't think this idea is as good for a sim league as it might be for IRL. IRL they can adjust to each other's game. In this sim engine, they'll clash and can't do anything about it. I don't think they'd win a title together.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it but then I should have been allowed to bid for both if I chose under the same premise. That's all I'm saying.

Not that I probably would have but I did float the idea and was told no. Have to choose to make an offer to one or the other as you need to have cap available for both if you want to offer for both. Miami will have that but after the deadline so could only offer one to start with.

Yea... with both of them on the same team, I think there would be a new clear cut favorite to win it all.

Yeah, arguments and legalities aside, it would be great to see and a great challenge to play against.

Or..... the admin driven argument that both would want to be the "man" of their own team....

Not going to lie, I seriously thought about gutting my roster for cap space and a ton of picks in an attempt to pair Harden with LeBron and Durant if my team had a meltdown in the playoffs. Decided against it easily, because that is WAY too risky, but I had against feeling that Miami or San Antonio might attempt to pull this off. If so, you're the front runners in your conference.
