GORDON A HORNET ONCE AGAIN, THIS TIME IN CHARLOTTE

In a trade happening out of nowhere today, after no single rumor was leaked into the news, the New Orleans Pelicans and the Charlotte Hornets have decided to exchange forwards Ben Gordon and Eric Gordon.
With both teams following different paths, the trade made sense to the interests of both franchises. While the Pelicans were looking to cap relieve in their rebuilding goal, the Hornets wanted to improve their already young roster with another proven player to keep the winning path we've started with.

With only Jefferson and Walker as big time scorers, and a roster focused more on defense than on offense, we were looking to improve our SG position while providing and scoring punch. Gordon fits that role perfectly, and although he'll most sure play with the second unit, he'll have big minutes off the bench, and will have an important role in the team as our third big scorer.

Still 24 years old, Eric also fits perfectly with this young squad. He will also meet with another former Indiana star in Cody Zeller. Cody was asked about him before finalizing the trade, and it was al kind words for the new Hornet.

Gordon wasn't happy back in New Orleans, and the team wasn't either with his play this season. So that was the main reason both parts were looking to part ways.
Truth is Eric's plan hasn't been as good as expected for a player of his caliber, but we're confident he's got the quality and determination needed to succeed in this league, and we'll try help him get back to his old form.

So far this season, he's been averaging 11.7ppg in 24.7 minutes per game off the bench. But he's percentages haven't been good, as he's shooting just 41.5% from the field, including an horrible 28.6% from the 3PT line on 2.1 3PTA per game.
But we're confident, and sure that a change of scenario and a fresh start is what Eric needs, and hopefully his stats and percentages will rise soon as a member or the Hornets.
Eric's got an unbelievable ability to score and also to draw fouls. We'll just give him the ball and ask him to score the way he knows. Given the confidence we're sure he'll perform.

As you and I obviously discussed, solid trade. I think Gordon's %'s will continue to increase slowly throughout the season - more importantly, I think his 3p% will increase to around 35%- 37% on the season. So, while not fantastic, he does help stretch the floor better than Ben did.

Hmm this really depends on what Gordon's real level of play is. We shall see soon. He still has three years and a ton of money left, so it could go either way.

Overall I think value-wise it's worth taking a shot at Gordon, especially considering CHA's great cap situation.
