Diaw directed the team for 629 CSL games, winning 357 and losing 262, for a 56.76 winning percentage. His best season as head coach of the Bucks was in 2027-28, where Milwaukee reached the Eastern Conference Finals, losing in seven games to the eventual champions, the Boston Celtics. Mills spent three and a half years with the franchise, working on improving the team's shooting ability, something he has succeed on as the Bucks are shooting the ball better than ever. However, insiders suggest his close relationship with Diaw meant it was better to replace them both.

Spoelstra, 60, joins the Bucks with plenty of experience in the league. He is known for his great game understanding and for getting the best out of his players. The Bucks management expect him to bring back the trademark defensive toughness that has been missing this year. And to help regaining that defensive mindset, White joins the staff. A CSL legend, the 40-year-old White has many Defensive Player of the Year awards under his belt.
Both will travel to Oakland where the Bucks continue their road trip visiting the Golden State Warriors, ironically another pre-season contender underperforming and with the same 17-17 record that the Bucks hold.
