39 minutes per game, 4.4 TO's per game, 39% from the field, 31% from deep.. Playing with no other scorers, shooting at will..

Sure he'll be good but stop overrating him, he's having a good season (with a lot of flukes) for a bottom-2 team.

And you're not even touching upon his less than stellar defense... 24% STP% and 1.0 PA/SF.

I certainly think he'll get more efficient on offense and a bit better on defense, but I have to agree that people need to look deeper into the numbers before hailing him as this transcendent talent. He's on an awful team where he dominates the ball every possession and plays every minute (unless he fouls out). His shooting efficiency is awful right now, but I do think it would go up a bit if he had some talent around him to take some of the load off him. And his TOs appear very high at 4.4/game, but remember that he dominates the ball every single possession. That number is artificially high just like his points and assists because he touches the ball so much. His TO/touch is 3.3%, which is actually not too bad for a rookie that will likely get better. I'm more worried about his defense though. He's a matador out there right now.

The crazy thing is now that Amir Johnson is gone for the year, Smart is going to shoot even more...

I think he'll develop to the point that he becomes a Rose / Westbrook kind of player who can explode and win you games as a scorer anytime, but it will take time and better teammates. He's not very far from his ceiling from what I see but I already like his ratings a lot.
But he's no Michael Jordan like oCSL Smart was. He's a future star just like some of the high picks become, and there's nothing wrong in a guy picked at #1 being a franchise player, like Derrick or Anthony Davis or LBJ to name just a few...
