Unrealistic engine

Post by mgtr81 »

So it seems DDS3 engine makes little sense ... or am I missing something?

Last game at Washington: we play heavy zone and low defensive intensity and the Wizards score 68 points in the paint and go 36 times to the free throw line, including 17 trips from their point guard.

The other day at Chicago: again heavy zone and low defensive intensity, and the Bulls score 70 points in the paint.

Low pace + high post up + drives of PGs for Chicago and Washington. Plus, your only drive stopper is Lowry.

Plus, Wall and Rose are both highest scorers for their teams and Wall has a very high DRWFL for PG.

I also know Chicago is running Dribble Drive, which further cuts down on 3 point attempts.

Yeah, it's a stupid comment to make too, because it doesn't explain what's going on. But that's how the world is now - people love to just bash shit because they're oh so fucking cool or lame shit like that.

@ Tim: none of that explains 70 points in the paint against a zone defense.

what I noticed with Al Jefferson is that zone doesn't dramatically reduce the % of shots made inside but more discourages the shots inside. Efficient players will still score but not shoot as much. So theoretically its still possible to score a lot inside even against a zone if your offense is focused on postups and drives.

There's more to it than that though. If you're playing a team with 9 Pace and 1 DRB, and you have 10 ORB, by way of example, that team is going to run all over you. It doesn't matter if you run full zone, your guys will never have a chance to get set on defense. Points in the paint could very well be all the layups and dunks being thrown down, since no one is back on defense yet.

That makes more sense.
