CSL Tonite! Mount Rushmore Players

Hello CSL fans, I'm Cindy Cindy along with Steve Smith and welcome to CSL Tonite! Tonite Smitty will be talking about the CSL's "Mount Rushmore" of players... take it away, Smitty!"




"Cindy Cindy...thanks alot! Tonite I'll be discussing the best players of all time in my opinion that have graced the hardwood of the CSL and if we were to add a fifth...that's right FIFTH because realistically there are only four presidents on Mt. Rushmore but when talking about the pantheons of competitive sports, basketball in particular we tend to add a fifth player so I'll start out with the Top 4 in no particular order...

1. Anthony Davis, New Orleans Pelicans... no doubt AD is the likely standard bearer of what a basketball player is, unstoppable on one end and a lockdown guy on the other end who is tremendous on both sides of the court and I'm confident if there was a 3rd side of the court, he'd be tremendous on that side as well! AD is a guy who is averaging 26pts 10rebs 2.5blks and 1.4stls per game, he's broken through to win a title a few years ago and still playing at a high level and is only 25 years old making him the youngest player on this list...

2. Paul George, Orlando Magic... What can I say about this guy except that he has seemed to have gotten better since leading the Indiana Pacers to a championship in his 2nd season in the League after being traded to the Orlando Magic... his defense is impeccable and he has the perfect offensive game to go along with it as he is one of the most tremendous players on both sides of the floor... 2016 was his breakout season in which he averaged nearly 35pts 9rebs 5asts and 2stls a game and has shown absolutely zero signs of slowing down....

3. Blake Griffin, Cleveland Cavaliers... in the inaugural season of the CSL, Blake Griffin then with the Denver Nuggets led them to the CSL title while putting up Herculean numbers of 29pts and nearly 12rebs per contest... He has a knack for getting to the basket, finishing strong, and though he now finds himself in Cleveland next to Kyrie Irving making this his 5th team, you'd have to think that he's likely found a permanent home...

4. James Harden, Houston Rockets... what can we say about "The Beard" except that this guy can and does it all for the Houston Rockets playing practically ALL FIVE POSITIONS at one time or another depending on what they need from him but the guy is phenomenal leading the Rockets to a title just 2 seasons ago where he averaged 35pts 5.2rebs nearly 5asts and 1.5stls per game... he is must see TV or whenever he comes to an arena near you...

5... Now comes the hardest part because if you notice one resounding theme in the choices every one has won a title at some point of their CSL career which is a huge part...

I could go Kemba Walker of the Detroit Pistons who after a few times finally broke thru with the team and are the reigning CSL Champs... nearly 24pts 4.3rebs 4.3asts and 2.6stls per game although aren't the eye-popping numbers the other guys are putting up in some people's eyes, they are still huge and the lil' fella will give any of these guys mentioned just as good as he gets...

Another guy could be Kevin Durant of the Portland Trailblazers who destroyed scoreboards last season in which he put up nearly 42pts 9.3rebs 3.5asts 1.5stls and 1blk...numbers which we haven't seen or may not see for a very long time but the key here is that he hasn't won it all nor had huge Playoff success and that is a huge factor though maybe not the determining factor...

And then we have LeBron James of the Dallas Mavericks... he was an unstoppable force in Milwaukee last season where he put up 30.5pts 5.9rebs 5.3asts and 1stl per game leading them past the highly favored Chicago Bulls but ultimately came up short of his championship aspirations with not much Playoff success as well other than the aforementioned Playoff run...

With that said I'm going to have go with...

If we are debating those three guys then I give the nod to Durant. He's been the most dominant scorer in league history and we probably won't ever see a player like him again in this league.

The KD argument though is he has has limited playoff success and suffered 2 season ending injuries in 5 yrs... hard to put a guy like that on the Mt Rushmore if the argument is against KD.

Kemba's incredible game 7 puts him with the legends of course, but I don't see him as a top 6 CSL player.

I was thinking Westbrook but I would put him #6 after my top 5 of George, Davis, Griffin, harden, Durant. They're above everyone else imo.
Then the group below them includes Westbrook, LeBron, Kenna, Wall, Irving and so on

This is clearly Durant, though with his injury it's tough to project how he'll be moving forward. A healthy Durant is a top 2 player though, no question.
